Weald Hall Brings the Seaside Home for an Intergenerational Beach Day
Residents at Weald Hall Care Home enjoyed a taste of the seaside when Daisy and Leo, two of the young participants in Premium Care Group’s Through the Eyes of a Child programme, joined them for a beach-themed day at the home.
There was no need for a trip to the coast because residents and their young visitors spent the day at Weald Hall building sandcastles, paddling and tucking into fish and chips, with plenty of time to chat together throughout the day

Once everyone had had enough of the sunshine, the group headed indoors to cool off in the home’s bar. The afternoon then became a little more competitive, with Daisy and Leo joining residents for games of pool and table football.

Danielle, Home Manager at Weald Hall, said:
“It was such a special day for everyone at Weald Hall. Seeing our residents spending time with Daisy and Leo, laughing together and simply enjoying each other’s company was wonderful.
There is something very special about bringing different generations together, and the happiness it brings to our residents is lovely to see. Days like this are exactly what the Through the Eyes of a Child programme is all about, creating genuine connections and moments that mean so much to everyone involved.”

“I’ve had such a lovely time. The children make me smile, it’s been a really happy day.”

Through the Eyes of a Child is Premium Care Group’s intergenerational programme, across all 10 Premium Care Group homes and creates regular opportunities for children and older people to spend time together. Activities vary from home to home, but the programme creates regular opportunities for children and older people to spend time together, take part in activities and get to know one another in the process. Each visit is different, with activities chosen that both residents and children can enjoy.

For residents at Weald Hall, this particular intergenerational visit meant a day at the seaside without having to leave home, complete with all the beachy fun, including sandcastles, fish and chips and two very enthusiastic young guests.
