Joyce’s Magic Moment – A Vintage Sidecar Ride at Rosebank Care Home

At Rosebank, we love seeing our residents try something new, and recently, it was Joyce’s turn to enjoy a very special experience.
On a recent bright morning, a 1934 Sunbeam motorcycle with a sidecar was brought along to the care home for everyone to see. Joyce was curious straight away and went over for a closer look. After chatting with the owners and admiring the bike, she was delighted to be invited to hop into the sidecar for a short ride through the village.

A Link to Family Memories
Joyce smiled and waved the whole way, thoroughly enjoying the outing. When she returned, she chatted with staff and fellow residents about how much fun it had been. Her daughter Gillian later explained why the moment meant so much, sharing that motorcycles have always been part of the family’s story through Joyce’s father, her late husband Neville and her son Dougal. The sidecar ride brought those memories back in a way that felt very special to her.
Her daughter Gillian later shared how fitting the moment had been:
“This is exactly the sort of thing Mum loves. She’s always been one for getting out and about. She doesn’t just sit still, she lives.”
Making Memories Together
Our team would like to thank Kenneth and his wife for bringing their Sunbeam along and giving Joyce this wonderful experience that she’ll treasure for a long time to come.
Their kindness made it a day to remember for Joyce, her family and everyone at Rosebank.
