Curtains open on our new cinema room
We are so excited to pull back the curtains on our brand new cinema room at Weald Hall. This room provides a place where our residents can relax and enjoy a good movie, with comfortable seating, ambient lighting and a big screen.
As part of our rebuild project, the cinema room provides another area for our residents and their families to enjoy. We recognise that every person is an individual, and so need to provide a range of facilities to suit all tastes.
The benefits of a good movie for the elderly
Movie watching can be a positive experience for the elderly, and isn’t just a fun thing to do. When it is combined with physical and mental activities, it provides another way to relax and socialise. There are also many other benefits to catching up with your favourite film or TV show.
- A moment of escape – provides a way to be in another world, or perhaps another time and place
- A way to educate and inform, especially if you want to showcase what is going on in the world
- Stimulates memories, especially for those with dementia. It could be a favourite childhood movie or a film enjoyed with a close family member. Maybe they will be transported back to the 30s or 40s, and in turn this will encourage emotional connections
- Provides meaningful discussions and a topic of conversation
- When watching a movie with other people, it provides a sense of community, helping to build positive relationships
The cinema experience at Weald Hall
Our residents will be able to enjoy the full cinema experience at Weald Hall, without having to step out of the home. Along with snacks and refreshments, we can’t wait for our residents to get settled in their seats, turn off their phones, and be fully immersed in their favourite movies.
